Oh man. I sit here a little teary eyed—I can't believe this is my last blog post of this 18 month journey since I left Oakland, California in July 2015. What an amazing, difficult, and life-changing experience it has been. Over this year and a half, 13 project sites were visited (you can check out the full list of blog posts here) and hundreds of clients were given pro bono legal services.
It doesn't go unnoticed by me for a moment that none of this would have been possible without your emotional and financial support. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I have so many more things to say, process, and share with you all about this journey. And I am very excited to share that I will be spending all of January 2017 on a very generous writing residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute. There, I will be writing the draft for a book about my experiences and reflections over these months.
As for what's next? Attorney on the Move will absolutely be continuing on for the entirety of 2017! :-) I am currently deep in reflection and plotting my next steps—which will be chosen deliberately to leverage as much resistance as possible during the Trump administration.
Today marks my last weekly blog post for the current version of this project, but I will still very much be writing moving forward. You'll all get a note about how these periodic communications will evolve in early 2017. I already can't wait to begin—or continue, I should say.
Each one of you reading this has impacted my life in such a meaningful way. I couldn't be more grateful. I've been very privileged to be working on this project and to also cross paths with many of you over these last 18 months and beyond. I can't wait to get back in touch with you around Inauguration Day and let you know what's up for 2017.
In the meantime, here is a photo collage of each of the 13 stops where I've been able to give pro bono legal help since July 2015. Also, if you have time, please hit "reply" as I'd love to hear how you are doing post-election. I hope you are doing as well as possible. It has been a year to remember, and I look forward to fighting alongside all of you in 2017!
Sending you much love and peace during these remaining days of 2016!
